What makes a great avatar? How much do you need to spend to make the biggest wow in the chatrooms? While price is one part of the process, there’s also a subtle art to getting your online gear in order.
About a week ago, just under 100 contestants were in the running for Fog King and Queen. The annual contest, held by the fields.of.gold chatroom’s moderators, called out for the best avatar.
After some furious voting on mig, we now stand at four contenders for King, and five for Queen. The King and Queen get the top prize of US$20 each, and the first runners up get US$5 each, sponsored by the chatroom’s moderators.
Currently, the King contenders stand at @ajujbh and @chcolateboy420 from Nepal, @jingle_ctg from Bangladesh and @silent-_-love from Pakistan. The potential Queens are @lleilay and @miss_l0n3llyy from the Philippines, @hamina_humaira from Bangladesh, and @aqila.fikriya and @zha_azha from Indonesia.
Looking at those which cleared the first round of voting so far, it appears that simply splurging on avatar items in the store doesn’t always guarantee success. Instead, tasteful pairing of the background with accessories (and often plenty of those) seems to work best in winning those votes.
Going through the entries shows quite the varied strategy among players. For instance, @hornet-boy went with the English Paladin Sword and @x3r0x-_- went with a twilight investigator look. Country pride was alive and well with @p_o_k_h_a_r_a and @milan_magar4u, who displayed the Nepal flag in their backgrounds, and @fool‘s avatar was holding the Pakistan flag.
And don’t leave out the potential rockstars. There was a guitar in the hands of @smilegurung0, @paris_hilton…, @sida_146, @leo.friend, @dead-evils32, @emopunkboy41, @destinyishell, to name some.
Naturally, some of our users splurged on on expensive, premium avatar items. Finalist @lleilay wields the magician rod, @vizkoe had the red sports car, and
@sam_risy wore the limited edition mig33 hat. All these are items within the top five most expensive in the store.
And for the complete opposite, there was @mehedi_hasan21 who went au naturale in his birthday suit, with a note simply stating that the weather was too hot for clothing.
Check out the entries for the #fogcontest by simply searching for the hashtag on miniblog. The judges are running the second round of votes on the chatroom’s its Facebook page, so head on over and vote for the avatar you like best!
